(Nah. Basically if you play the "Classic" or "Free" version, you can't change your skin. You're given a basic one. When you purchase the game, not only do you get a much better experience, but it also allows you to go to the official site and find a skin you like and then click "make this my skin" or somethin'. Personally? I just download most of 'em and force the change, seems more stable.)

.... So you're going to take the Throne of Gensokyo so Law and Order will reign over all? .... You realize how impossible that sounds, right?

(It's a bit of a difficult process, first you need to find a skin. Some Touhou ones can be found here, if the character you want to play isn't on there, don't fret. This is just to test. The 'skin' is really just a PNG file that is in the specific areas for clothes, hair, face, etc.

The problem lies on where to put it, first go to C:\Program Files\Documents and Settings\[Your Profile]\Application Data\.Minecraft\bin -- To reach that, you'll need to click on Tools and then "folder options", go to "View" and then look through the list until you find "show hidden files and folders". Make sure it is checked.

Now that you're finally in the folder, right click "minecraft.jar" and open it with Winrar [That is the only one that works on my end]. If you have the latest version, you'll need to rename your skin to 'char' and then go to "Mob" in the minecraft.jar, simply move your new skin into the jar to replace the old one, start Minecraft up and enjoy the skin.)

So you're going to say this is simple too? I know you're wrong on this one, but I suppose this is why I am the Apprentice, to learn from such assumptions.

(You can play the free version here. It's nothing special, I recommend going into options and turning on the sound and music unless you have your own. The only thing to really do is "build" so... Don't get your hopes up.

As far as changing a skin goes, it's really not as complicated as the wall of text makes it look, I'll walk you through the process in a simple step by step when you have it, 'kay?)
